The common used resolution ( by that I mean the resolution that almost all the pro use) is 1024x768. Now to get everything right u need to turn your GPU scaling on( the black bars on each side of your monitor), for NVIDIA users : right click on background --> nvidia control panel --> display --> Adjust desktop size and position --> Perform scaling on : GPU.   You're Welcome!
